Top 10 College Survival Tips

In honor of move in day (well, my move in day), I've put together some of my top ten tips for going to (or back to) college.  I must say, I give pretty great advice that is only tiny bit generic--but at least there are gifs involved!

So while I'm busy moving my ungodly amount of belongings into my first ever apartment, you can read my top ten tips alongside slightly relevant TV/movie gifs.

Whether it's your first year (it's okay, everyone was a freshman once) or your last year. There's still a few things that you should always keep in mind.

1. Always find the free food. The number of "welcome" events can keep you fed the whole first week.

2. Don't make your roommate hate you. I'm not saying you have to be bff's, but go in with an open mind. They're going to be your first friend, and they friends will potentially become your other friends. (It's the college version of networking).

3. The freshman 15 7 is real, anyone that told you otherwise is lying. There is nothing but fast food and buffet-style dining halls on campus. It's time to make healthy choices and remember the gym is free.

4. Sleep is key. Just don't sleep instead of going to class.

5. Study first, party later. Don't pay to fail that class. Don't do it.

6. Prioritize life over school. I'm aware that this goes against number 5, but in reality, putting off an assignment for a half hour isn't going to be the end of the world.  That philosophy paper won't matter after graduation.

7. Take risks. Say no as least as possible (within reason--make good choices!). You can't have experiences when you sit in your room 24/7.

8.  Sometimes everything will get to you--but that's okay.

9. Subscribe to Netflix. Self explanatory.

10. Don't be afraid to actually be yourself. It's time for a fresh start, and college students are far less judgmental (mainly because they don't care).
